Physiology Department
About
The Department of Physiology, DMCH, was established in 2020, a year after the inception of the college. It is located on the first floor of the Basic Science Building and has an annual intake of 100 undergraduate students into the MBBS curriculum.
The department is equipped with the following laboratories, as per MCI guidelines:
- Hematology Laboratory
- Clinical Laboratory
- Mammalian Physiology Laboratory
- Amphibian Laboratory
- Research Laboratory
All laboratories are well-equipped to impart medical education and training to undergraduate students. Additionally, the department has an updated library with the latest editions of textbooks and reference books.
Head of the Department
The department is led by Dr. (Prof.) R. K. Kalita, an experienced academician and visionary teacher who has held several prestigious positions in various medical colleges across Assam.
Dr. Kalita’s Contributions & Experience:
- Former Medical Superintendent of FAAMCH, Barpeta, and TMCH, Tezpur
- Former Principal cum Chief Superintendent of FAAMCH, Barpeta, and TMCH, Tezpur
- Former Head of the Department of Physiology at JMCH, FAAMCH, and TMCH
- Guided numerous postgraduate students
- Speaker and chairperson in national scientific conferences
- Regular MCI Assessor, having evaluated multiple medical colleges across India
